Visit
the ancient city of Epidaurous where the ancient
Athenians went to indulge them selves, in artistic
pursuits and free and open thinking. A one-week
cruise normally weekend to weekend but can start
really when ever. Leaving Athens sailing to the
village of Korfos (about 25 miles form athens or
5 hours sailing). Along the way stopping to swim
and play on a beach on Angistri Island. Arriving
in Korfos around 5-6pm and anchoring out in the
bay, giving us chance to swim and play without the
prying eyes of the locals. The evening meal would
be ashore at one of the local tavernas, returning
to the boat for evening drinks.
Day
2 Leave Korfos mid morning and sail to Epidavouros,
(about 15 miles or 3 hours) Along the way stopping
for swimming etc. Arriving in Epidavouros mid
afternoon, and anchoring out again in the outer
harbor. Giving plenty of opportunity for fun and
Games. The town is famous for the Theater that
is close by. Again evening meals would be shore
at some of the best fish tavernas in the region.
Day
3 A rest day and a chance to visit the ancient
theater of Epidavouros. Leaving mid morning on
the local bus and about a 30 min ride to the site.
Returning mid afternoon to lunch on board and
then some swimming in the afternoon. Evening meal
ashore again.
Day
4 Leaving Epidavouros mid day and sailing to Poros.
This island is a little more cosmopolitan with
great shopping and great nightlife. The island
is about 20 miles or 4 hours from Epidavouros.
Once there the bay opens up in to a huge inland
lake with lots of little small coves and bays,
anchoring and finding, as quiet spot to swim is
easy, then going along side in the evening to
join in with the nightlife and great food.
Day
5 Leave for Hydra Island around mid morning stopping
along the way for swimming and Lunch. Hydra Island
is about 15 miles or 3 hours from Poros. Hydra
Island is unique in that it has no vehicles on
the island and only donkeys are used for transportation.
The town is built up the hills and the streets
are narrow pathways.
Day
6 We leave from Hydra Island around mid morning
to sail to Dhakos Island. About 10 miles away.
Here we will have a beach bar bque in the evening.
The island is totally deserted with only goats
and sheep roaming around. In a secluded bay we
have built a stone pit for cooking on. The water
here is crystal clear. It is deserted enough that
we often hold theme nights where fancy dress is
optional here on the beach and then go back to
the boat for fun late.
Day
7 We leave Dhakos Island around mid morning and
sail back to Athens about 34 miles away (6 hours)
arriving in the marina around 5pm.
